The company was set up in 1996 by two recent engineering graduates – Dirk Bauer and Michael Pahl. Originally, they used a simple sketch pad and some play dough to make a streamlined, non-phallic and completely harness-compatible dildo.

Eventually, the company’s products became so popular that manufacturing started occurring in the Fun Factory modern facility. Since those early days, Fun Factory products have received a number of important recognitions. In 2009, one of the brand’s flagship vibes received the highest rating by Oko-Test magazine in Germany.
